We grow over 1,500 varieties of dahlias at Petal, a Flower Farm, from tried-and-true workhorses to the newest and rarest unicorns. Our Happy Mix seeds are collected from dahlias with collarette, anemone, and orchid forms—flowers with playful inner collars, fluffy cushion-like centers, and gracefully rolled petals.
Our pollinators do the matchmaking. We keep these growing fields separated from our other dahlia groups, making it much more likely that your seedlings will carry traits from the forms listed on the packet. Every cross is nature’s own creation, so colors, shapes, and flower forms remain a delightful surprise rather than a guarantee.
Growing dahlias from seed means growing something entirely new. Each seedling has its own unique genetic combination—a dahlia revealing itself for the first time in your garden. No two discoveries are quite the same, and watching those first buds open is half the joy.
